Frequently Asked Questions
All staff members, contract employees, volunteers, and students receive Arkansas Child Maltreatment Central Registry Checks at hire and every two years thereafter. They also receive Criminal Background Checks at hire and every five years thereafter. All staff members and contract employees who have not been a resident of the State of Arkansas for the past five years receive FBI record checks at hire.
MKSA/KULA employees are certified in CPR.

The children we serve in our day treatment program are typically 6 weeks to 6 years of age, or until the age of entering Kindergarten. We can provide outpatient services to children up until the age of 12.
Child to Teacher Ratio:
- 0-18 months – 1 teacher: 4 children
- 18-36 months- 1 teacher: 6 children
- 36-48 months- 1 teacher: 8 children
- 48-72 months- 1 teacher: 9 children
Child Attendance policy:
We are open Monday-Friday from 6:30 am-5:30 pm. Regular attendance is extremely important to your child’s progress. Each day missed is a lost opportunity for him or her to work on the goals and objectives listed in his or her treatment plan. Please be sure your child attends MKSA/KULA each scheduled day unless he or she is ill. Regular attendance will provide continuity in your child’s development process. Each child must be dropped off by 8:30 am and remain at school until 3:30 pm. Absences will be excused with appropriate documentation.
Security & Safety Rules/Measures:
MKSA/KULA is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for children, employees, and guests. We strive to meet the standards, laws, and regulations that apply to health care facilities including, but not limited to, lighted fire exits, fire suppression equipment, first aid kits, evacuation cribs for infants, and evacuation routes and maps posted throughout the clinic. MKSA/KULA practices tornado and fire drills monthly and earthquake drills quarterly.
Medication Administration:
MKSA/KULA employs registered and licensed practical nurses (RNs and LPNs) who are under the supervision of physicians. The Department of Health requires that all medications given at MKSA/KULA be given by these licensed medical personnel. All medications must be in the original container and must be properly labeled. Before any medications are given at MKSA/KULA, parents/guardians must sign a consent form. Our Medical Director will direct the use of over-the-counter drugs.
All modified diets, tube feedings, breathing treatments, and other specialized medical treatments must be ordered by a physician and a copy of the prescription must be provided to MKSA/KULA.
